My View of Diversity in America Amanda R. Birlew ETH/125 July, 1 2012 Introduction In the last nine weeks my eyes have been opened to how various(a) America truly is becoming. Many groups of Americans have had an uphill encounter towards equality and that has not al rooms had to do with the color of cardinals skin - women, the disabled, and members of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) community have also battled in the struggle for equality. Some fights have been uglier and more oppressive than others, just oppression in any form is nothing pathetic of mentally and emotionally scarring for its victims, no matter the reasoning quarter it. While the diversity in America brings an inevitable measuring rod of prejudice I think the experiences of individuals and the pursuit of a collected society by the majority of the population brings people unitedly in ways that previously may have been mind to be unimaginable. I have learned that while I myself may have preconceived notions and prejudices that I cannot explain, my feelings ar belike wrong, and cherishing a new way of thinking towards individuals would be beneficial. Learning to look at the individual, from the inside and what they can set up will help me to be a better soul not only in my personal life nevertheless professional as well.

In turn by adopting an strength that is centered around person-centered thinking will help me to put forward children who look beyond labels and at the individual, which will help foster a more peaceful way of life. Oppression in America History has shown that much oppressive and prejudice behavior halts from a feeling of favourable position of one group onto another; stereotypes stem from generalizing members of a group to attainher, often in the most forbid way.
