Douglas style debate for globalization

It has been commonly said that the world is almost becoming a global village thanks to globalization. Globalization had its many advantages as well as several disadvantages and these advantages and disadvantages have been fueling many a debate on whether some nations should wholly embrace globalization, partially embrace it or reject it all together.

One such debate is the Douglas style debate for globalization. In this debate, the first point of contention is whether or not globalization can be regarded as promoting international peace.

According to Thomas Hobbes, humans always need someone to watch over them because if there they were to live without anyone watching over them, they would surely destroy each other.

It is for this reason that societies establish governments and laws because without these, humans cannot feel protected. It the current world setting, completion of diminishing natural resources has resulted in neighboring nations and their leaders to constantly threaten one another over national resources and the territories of their land.

Globalization can be used to enforce peace when all world nations would come together and solve the problems affecting world peace as a block. If globalization were to be used effectively, international bickering would ground to a halt and the emphasis of the world would shift to other important things such as development of the society.

Upon examination of the last century alone, globalization forces have been among the significant contributors to the improvement of the welfare of humans. Examples of these are the several occasions, are those when several countries have come together to intervene in hunger situations case-in-point the 1988 intervention in Somalia.
