The Stanford prison experiment was a field of view of the psychological effects of congruous a pris iodiner or prison guard. In 1971, the psychologist Philip Zimbardo move to show that prison guards and convicts would tend to slip into predefined roles, behaving in a way that they thought was required, rather than using their own public opinion and morals. Zimbardo was trying to show what happened when all of the individuality and dignity was scanty away from a human, and their life was completely controlled. He valued to show the dehumanization and loosening of social and moral determine that can happen to guards immersed in such a situation. He set out to do this by placing advertisements in a local newspaper, stating that male college students would be needed for a study of prison life paying fifteen dollars per day for one to two days. Of the seventy-five responses, twenty-one were selected, half of them as guards and the separate half as prisoners. Philip Zimbardos primary goal in this experiment was to find out the help when prisoners and guards become despotic and passive.
He did this by setting up a gibe prison in which all of the prisoners were assigned the same uniforms and cells, and use numbers instead of names. The guards were assigned uniforms and offices, somewhat similar to the prisoners draw they were equipped with billy clubs, whistles, handcuffs, and keys, and had freedom. These conditions allowed a setting similar to prisons; this in any case allowed everyone to be stripped of identifying characteristics, therefore equal. One of Philip Zimbardos claims was the process of becoming a prisoner. In this process, all of the applicants were arrested, read their rights, and supercharged with a felony.
